About Yamazaki
Yamazaki is inspired by traditional Scottish whisky and is influenced by its surrounding nature and climate. Founder Shinjiro Torii believed that the craftsmanship and mastery required to create single malt whisky appropriately reflects the values of the Japanese people and culture, whilst a unique climate, fresh water sources, and natural materials available would combine well in the pursuit of a world-leading whisky.
History
Yamazaki is Japan’s first and oldest malt whisky distillery, established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. It is named after the suburb of Kyoto and Osaka it is situated in. Yamazaki is most known for its core range – a 12-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 25-year-old – as well as for special releases such as sherry cask and bourbon cask finishes.
